When I used to think of polution, I thought that only industrial pollution from exhaust fumes, rubbish, and sewerage etc, but what is more dangerous and nobody seems to give a tiny rats ass is the pollution from every day cosmetics. This includes perfume, household cleansers, air fresheners, shampoo, moisturisers etc. Every time these are washed away during a bath or shower they are washed away into the environment. However, this type of pollution is never really mentioned in the media as Estee Lauder and L’Oreal (who own all the other beauty and perfume industries in the world) might just sink overnight.! Estee Lauder owns many designer brands including Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone, Clinique, Origins, and M.A.C, plus tons of others. L’Oreal own Helena Rubinstein, Lancome, Ralph Lauren, Shu Uemura, Stella McCartney and Maybelline, plus tons of others. So now I know why they can afford those airbrushed celebrities who continuously try to brainwash us with the slogan, “Because You’re Worth It.” Yeah, I’m worth poisoning, that’s great sickness on your souls celebrities. Thanks a bunch!! Read more about “pinkwashing“ when cosmetic companies promote the cure for cancer yet use carcinogens in its products.
The skin is a living breathing organ. Everything that you spray into your air and put onto your body and hair is absorbed. And when most of these cosmetics contain harmful chemicals, is it any wonder why most of the world is getting sick?. Yes cancer can be caused by cosmetics. Read more about poisonous every day products. Yes, the bottle might heed a warning, but just think what those poisons are doing to your lungs and throat because they are being absorbed every time you breathe. When I mention to my mum about the poisons in perfume she says, “but you don’t eat it love.” I think most of us forget that the skin absorbs pollution externally and internally.
Think about buying products that do not impact your health and use organic and natural ingredient. And be careful when choosing a product listed natural or organic, as many products still contain nasty chemicals. Safe products may be expensive but we’re talking about health here, which is priceless. I am saving a bunch of money through not having to buy perfume, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, deodorant, kitchen cleanser, air freshener, and washing powder and I still manage to stay clean and healthy. In fact, I’ll bet that those with asthma will suffer less symptoms if you switch to using essential oils to cleanse the kitchen and purify the air. I can’t believe antiperspirant manufacturers still use aluminium, which may cause Alzheimer’s Disease. Try Oy Deodorant, which is expensive but smells lush. Crystal sticks may work for some, but I didn’t find it effective in disguising body odour. Green People use products that do not contain harsh chemicals and the products are not tested on animals. They sent me a sample of a shampoo containing lavender oil, but at almost £10 a bottle, I think I’ll stick to black soap. Skin Deep Cosmetics Database is a wonderful resource to discover how healthy your cosmetics are. Another great website is the Natural Skincare Authority.
